Paris: Churches

We visited so many beautiful churches during our week! I was very happy to see the restoration progress on Notre Dame. When we watched that fire back in April 2019 I never thought it could be fixed. They are planning to open it in December 2024.

St. Suplice, St. Germain, and Sacre Couer were other churches we saw. I am posting images of these without distinguishing them. Enjoy!

  1. Such gorgeous stained glass and magnificent stonework in those cathedrals! Thanks for your wonderful photos of the churches – including the frescoes and the beautifully constructed arrays of organ pipes. I can’t help but think of the thousands of carpenters, stonemasons, and other builders who toiled over centuries to complete these huge buildings with only hand tools and muscle power. Ad maiorem Dei gloriam.

  2. Isn’t amazing what was done for church splendor? It was in an Italian church in Milan where incense was being used and Latin sung that I felt how the masses could be convinced of spirits and all power.

    1. I know what you mean! And in Asia it was similar with Buddhist and Hindu temples and Islamic Mosques. We must be drawn as humans to worship deities with this beauty
