New Dehli

My tour of New Delhi this morning (2/15) started with the oldest section of Delhi. In the late 1100s, wars between a Hindu king and Muslim king resulted in a new Muslim king crowned in what is now New Delhi. The first stop on my tour shows an area that had about 10 Hindu temples that were destroyed and a mosque that was built. In the artwork on the mosque are many Hindu symbols, not in defiance but bc that is what the Hindu workers knew.

Then I visited a museum dedicated to Ghandi, at the home where he spent the last 5 months of his life and where he was killed.

Then I visited central Delhi where there are lots of embassies for different countries, the president’s house, the parliament, and the Indian Gate, which honors Indian soldiers who died in WWI.

    1. Thx Martha. The times it is hardest is eating alone in restaurants and trying to figure out the TV in the hotel. I just covered it with a towel!
