Street Art in Bengalore

Saskya and I took a tour of street art in the Malleswaram section of Bendalure. The street art was an initiative to make the city more accessible and appealing by walking, encourage more women to cluster on streets the way men do, and to call attention to alleys which were previously only used by people in lower castes (servants) to access higher caste people’s homes from the rear.

Feet of a woman walking. Can tell she is not a higher caste due to sari so perhaps to or from work.
Woman pouring coffee for guests. A common Bangalore greeting is “have you had breakfast?” Or “ have you had coffee?” even if just passing in street, but always when visiting someone’s home.
This woman is the street sweeper of this alley.
