Glad I brought:
1. Sun protection. A long-sleeved white shirt. This was great as a protector from the sun and perfect when visiting temples that required white. Would have been even better if it was one of those with SPF protection. Sun screen: the sun is so hot and my skin is so pale. Daily use of sunscreen – and re-application thereof- was essential! Would have been even better if it was the kind that is biodegradable (so wouldn’t hurt the coral) and non-carcinogenic.
2. Compression socks. On long flights I was so happy to be wearing compression socks! One flight I skipped and my feet and ankles were very swollen.
3. First Aid kit. Anti-diarrhea medicine like Imodium and an antibiotic. I am very fortunate that I never got “Delhi belly” but I was glad I was ready just in case! Band aids and neosporin. Never needed. Ibuprofen. Used a few times. Anti- anxiety meds. Used a few times, but thankfully the panic attacks I had after Henry died have stopped.
Next time I will also pack:
1. Dramamine / anti-motion sickness medication. I mentioned going up in the mountains to see the Thai elephants was challenging with car sickness. After I bought meds, I avoided motion sickness on boats and several car trips. Score.
2. A smaller sun hat. I love my big sun hat, but I looked a little ridiculous in Asia wearing it. I would pack a bucket hat or baseball cap next time.
3. Baby wipes. I picked some up along the way and loved having them. Napkins aren’t plentiful and, as mentioned earlier, neither is TP.
Oh, and I am glad I brought my purple hair dye. Life is better with purple hair.
